Not everyone loves golf, baseball or roaring engines - and
we've got 'stuff' for those other interests, too.
Annually on June 21st [see
Events Schedule], Aboriginal Day, several events are planned.
On July 1st, Hay River celebrates Canada Day
with a parade in the downtown core and then numerous events
at the beach in Hay River Territorial Park each year [see
Events Schedule]. There are events at the Aboriginal Centre, downtown core.
A
special treat is in store for residents and visitors Labour Day weekend in September
[see
Events Schedule] at the Fiddling & Jigging Jamboree
which is usually held at the Ben Sivertz Arena Complex.
If you're with us in September, we encourage
you to take in the Annual Trade Fair and Exhibition
[see Business
Events Calendar]. This Trade Fair draws exhibitors from
the business and industry sectors of several communities,
including Yellowknife, Fort Smith and High Level, Alberta,
as well as from our own Hay River sectors.
A
vital part of this event is the exhibition segment, sponsored
by the Territorial
Farmers Association, which usually includes displays
of local crafts and workmanship along with the old Country
Fair style exhibits of produce, canning, baking [see
Events Schedule]. There are always lots of interesting
things to see, touch, taste and it's a good time for kids,
too.

We
recommend that you check in at the Public Library, the Hay
River Centennial Library downtown on Woodland Drive
[see map]. There is almost always something extra going
on here.
Throughout June, July, August and September, bingo
enthusiasts will be pleased to know there are bingos held
just about every week [see
Events Schedule]. There are also dances held on a fairly
regular basis through the season. The Town of Hay River
operates a Summer Parks Program for youngsters through
July and August, and the Soaring Eagle Friendship Centre
operates a Summer Cultural Day Camp Program.
For more information on these and other events see the Events
Calendar.
