--MAYOR'S MESSAGE

Mayor Jean-Marc Miltenberger

As Mayor of the Town of Hay River, I would like to welcome you to our community. Please take the time to enjoy the many services, amenities and recreational facilities that we have to offer in our town. A visit to the Tourist Information Centre should be the first stop when you arrive in our community to help you plan your visit.

With the long summer sun and wilderness at hand, a day trip around the natural beauty of the South Slave Region, a weekend backpacking or canoeing, or just relaxing soaking up the sun on the sand bordering the second largest lake located completely within Canada are just some opportunities that will bring many wonderful and exciting memories for years afterwards. Golf at our beautiful 9-hole golf course or visit the community parks and Territorial Parks, including Alexandra Falls, Louise Falls and Escarpment Creek for even more memories.

If you’re here during the winter months you can enjoy cross-country skiing at our Nordic Centre, or visit the aquatic centre with an indoor waterslide, kiddie pool, steamroom, sauna and lanes. Snowmobiling is a popular recreational sport with drag and snow cross races being held annually in town.

Welcome to our community where I am sure you will find the people to be outgoing and friendly. Hay River is a true northern experience you won’t soon forget, no matter the season.
