ONE OF HIS MOST PRIZED POSSESIONS WAS THE AWARD HE RECEIVED AT A CEREMONY IN YELLOWKNIFE DURING "THE YEAR OF THE VETERAN" CEREMONIES HELD THERE. HE WAS SO PROUD TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MARCH WITH HIS COMRADES IN THE PARADE. AT THIS TIME, I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THE CITIZENS OF MY OLD HOME TOWN FOR THEIR KIND EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY AND THE OVERWHELMING SUPPORT GIVEN TO OUR FAMILY AFTER DAD'S

Stan's death in Jasper a few years back. I miss Hay River very much and I plan on taking a trip up there in the near future. The last time I was in Hay River was in 1979, when my Dad, Ken Short, took my twin sister Tracy and I there for a visit, I loved every moment, and everything about the north. Just browsing through some of my youth. I worked in Hay River as a summer student in 1962 and '63. I remember it as a great
place and I truly enjoyed my experience up there. I haven't made it back yet, but who knows, maybe in the next year or so. I would be really interested to see the changes that have happened since my time there.
